Addison McDowell NC-06 1Addison McDowell was raised in Davidson County. In a Christian family where church was always a priority, Addison learned conservative North Carolina values from an early age.  Thanks in part to a Baptist scholarship, Addison graduated from UNC Charlotte where he met his wife, Rachel, through the YoungLife Ministry. After graduating, he went on to work for Congressman (now US Senator) Ted Budd as a Constituent Liaison.

Addison is running for Congress now to take his fight for working families to Congress and is endorsed by President Donald Trump and US Senator Ted Budd— because they believe he is the candidate who will put up the strongest fight to help them promote the America First Agenda and secure our Southern border.

McDowell finished in first place in the Republican primary election with 26% of the vote, though he fell short of the 30% of the vote required to avoid a runoff election. Mark Walker finished in second place, with 24%. Though Walker initially indicated that he wanted a runoff election, he opted to join the Donald Trump 2024 presidential campaign rather than seek a runoff, making McDowell the Republican nominee. He won the November election.

Issues

Securing the Border

We must secure the Southern Border and stop the flow of illegal drugs from flooding into our country. This isn’t just a talking point for Addison, it’s personal. His younger brother died of a fentanyl overdose, the same fentanyl entering our country daily due to Joe Biden’s failure at the border.

Protecting our Jobs

North Carolinians have all seen how a community can be decimated by the free-trade agenda pushed by previous Presidents, Democrat and Republican alike. That’s why Addison supports President Trump’s America First Agenda that protects and promotes American jobs.

Defending the 2nd Amendment

Addison believes that the right to self-defense is a God-given, constitutional right of every law-abiding American. As an avid hunter and gun enthusiast, Addison will fight government overreach that aims to disrupt North Carolinians’ 2nd Amendment rights.

100% Pro-Life

Every life, born or unborn, is a precious gift from God. I will vote 100% pro-life and will champion pro-life causes and legislation in Congress. Unfortunately, the Biden administration has been the most pro-abortion White House in American history. This administration is trying every chance they get to use taxpayer resources to pay for and promote abortion. They want no limits on abortion, even up to the 9th month. I will protect life and also champion pro-family policies that will ease the burden of child-bearing for women and families.

Stand with Crypto

We must encourage innovation here in the United States. Unfortunately, the lack of regulatory clarity when it comes to digital assets risks forcing this new and promising technology overseas. Addison believes the United States should be a leader in creating a forward-looking, pro-innovation crypto policy. This means avoiding burdensome government regulation and opposing efforts to create central bank digital currencies (CBDCs).

Secure Elections

Free, fair, and secure elections are essential to a functioning country. I will oppose all attempts to federalize elections. Not only is that unconstitutional, but politicians in DC have already screwed up enough. I don’t trust them to cut spending and secure the border, let alone administer our elections fairly. The vast majority of Americans believe you should show an ID to vote. States should only get federal grants if they require a voter ID to vote. We should also tighten restrictions on absentee voting, so that all votes are received by election day & signature verification is used to ensure voter fraud doesn’t occur.
